Born in Leninabad, Tajik SSR (now Khujand, Tajikistan), Alex Belo spent his early years between Central Asia and Sakhalin Island, Russia.
This period shaped his sensitivity to nature, inspired by the pictorial landscapes of the Pamir and Mogoltau mountains, the Syr Darya River, and later, the Strait of Tartary.
These early impressions are now reflected in his artworks — in organic shapes, a sense of balance, diversity, and the dynamism of visual elements.
He later pursued a long career in graphic design, working remotely from Saint Petersburg, Russia, with international clients around the globe, before fully turning to visual art in 2022.
Since 2023, he has been working in Batumi, Georgia.
Belo is a self-taught artist focused on abstract painting.
Belo’s work is abstract, intuitive, and emotionally charged.
His visual language is dreamlike and dynamic — marked by vibrant colors, strong contrasts, and a sense of movement.
Each piece invites open interpretation and encourages prolonged engagement.
Personal experiences, knowledge structures, and impressions from the outer world form a foundation for ideas at an unconscious level.
As a result, the painting process begins without any consciously formulated concept or direction.
The works emerge through automatism and improvisation.
What remains under the artist’s control are intentional color choices, visual structure, and — to some extent — composition and balance.
Each piece remains open to personal interpretation, continuing to reveal new meanings over time — to the viewer, to the artist, and within the work itself.
